Digital app for monitoring speech and health in neurodegenerative conditions
Digital App for Speech & Health Monitoring in Neurodegenerative Disorders
This study is testing a digital app that records and analyzes speech to see if it can help monitor and detect neurodegenerative conditions like dementia and Parkinson's disease in both patients and healthy volunteers.

What this trial studies
This project aims to utilize a digital platform to record and analyze speech from individuals with neurodegenerative disorders such as dementia, motor neuron disease, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease, as well as healthy controls. By collecting acoustic speech data, the study seeks to develop algorithms for early detection, monitoring, and stratification of these conditions. Participants will include diagnosed individuals and healthy volunteers, allowing for comparative analysis. The findings could enhance diagnostic and monitoring capabilities for these disorders.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals diagnosed with dementia, motor neuron disease, multiple sclerosis, or Parkinson's disease, as well as healthy volunteers without neurological conditions.
Not a fit: Patients under 16 years old or those with significant visual or hearing impairments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to improved early detection and monitoring of neurodegenerative conditions, enhancing patient care.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing digital technologies for speech analysis in neurodegenerative conditions have shown promise, indicating potential for success in this approach.
