What this trial studies

Multiple Sclerosis care is delivered through diverse organizational models across countries, and MUSICALISE aims to define which elements of specialised MS care units (MSCU) deliver the best integrated care. The project will perform in-depth case studies in France and Italy, combine those findings with an international MSCU survey from the European Charcot Foundation, and collect qualitative data through focus groups and individual interviews with patients, carers, and health professionals. Researchers will compare models between and within countries to identify features linked to quality of care and care integration, and will propose a flexible interdisciplinary care model that can be adapted to local contexts. The emphasis is on practical, stakeholder-relevant recommendations rather than testing a clinical intervention.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal participants are adults diagnosed with MS, their carers, and healthcare professionals who work with MS patients and who agree to take part in interviews or focus groups.

Not a fit: People seeking immediate new medical treatments or direct clinical benefit are unlikely to gain direct health effects from participating, because this is an observational care-model project.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the project could lead to more consistent, better-coordinated MS services that improve patient experience and reduce gaps in care.

How similar studies have performed: MS care unit models have been implemented in several countries and observational reports suggest improved coordination of care, but high-quality comparative evidence is limited.
