What this trial studies

This research aims to create a brief group-based treatment called Resilience Training for Teens, designed to support high school students who exhibit mild symptoms of depression, anxiety, or unusual feelings. The intervention will be tested to evaluate its effectiveness in preventing the development of serious mental illnesses among adolescents. Participants will be enrolled from grades 9 to 12 and will engage in group sessions focused on building resilience and coping strategies.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are high school students aged 14 to 19 who have experienced at least one psychotic experience and are willing to participate with parental consent.

Not a fit: Patients currently on psychotropic medications or receiving psychotherapeutic interventions may not benefit from this study.

Eligibility criteria

Inclusion Criteria:

* Currently enrolled in 9th through 12th grade and between the ages of 14 and 19
* Endorsed at least one psychotic experience
* Provided contact information
* Have a parent or legal guardian who is able and willing to provide written informed consent (if under the age of 18)
* Have a parent or legal guardian who is able and willing to participate in a parent session
* Competent and willing to provide written informed assent (if under the age of 18) or consent (if age 18 or older)
* Able to communicate in English

Exclusion Criteria:

* Currently prescribed psychotropic medication (not including medications for attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder), regardless of adherence
* Currently obtaining psychotherapeutic intervention
