What this trial studies
This observational study evaluates how effectively patients are referred from primary care to a nephrology teleconsultation service in the Garraf region. It focuses on the timing of referrals and the appropriateness of these referrals based on established criteria. By analyzing patient data from January to December 2024, the study aims to identify gaps in the referral process for chronic kidney disease management.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults over 18 years old who have been referred to nephrology from primary care and meet specific referral criteria.
Not a fit: Patients with a prior diagnosis of chronic kidney disease or those who have undergone renal replacement therapy will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve early detection and management of chronic kidney disease, leading to better patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is observational and may not have been extensively tested in this specific context, similar studies have shown the importance of timely referrals in managing chronic conditions.
