What this trial studies

This protocol will enroll adult patients undergoing ankle arthroscopy at Clinique Saint Jean and follow them for one year after surgery. Patients will attend scheduled follow-ups at 15 days, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months, during which surgeons and physical therapists will perform clinical and functional examinations. Participants will complete self-assessment questionnaires and undergo standardized functional tests including ALR RSI, FAAM AVQ, FAAM Sport, CAIT, and Ankle Go to document function and symptoms. The primary outcome is a descriptive record of all complications occurring within one year based on those clinical, functional, and self-reported measures.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults scheduled for arthroscopic ankle surgery who can give informed consent, are covered by health insurance, and can attend follow-ups for one year.

Not a fit: Patients with very recent traumatic injuries (<1 month), prior ankle surgery, inability to attend one-year follow-up, pregnant women, or those under legal protection are excluded and would not benefit from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could help clinicians anticipate, detect, and manage common complications after ankle arthroscopy to improve recovery.

How similar studies have performed: While postoperative surveillance is common and similar monitoring has described complications after other arthroscopic procedures, comprehensive one-year ankle-specific complication datasets remain limited.
