What this trial studies
This study compares the effects of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization and myofascial release on pain intensity, pressure pain threshold, back function, and range of motion in patients suffering from chronic nonspecific low back pain. Chronic low back pain is a prevalent issue affecting a significant portion of the workforce, leading to functional limitations and economic impact. The study aims to provide clarity on the effectiveness of these two treatment approaches, which have not been thoroughly compared in existing literature. By measuring various outcomes, this research seeks to inform physical therapists about effective treatment options for their patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 25-45 with chronic nonspecific low back pain lasting more than three months.
Not a fit: Patients with serious spinal pathologies, nerve root compromise, or other specified exclusions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more effective treatment options for patients suffering from chronic low back pain.
How similar studies have performed: While this study explores a novel comparison of treatment methods, similar studies have shown varying degrees of success with myofascial release and soft tissue mobilization techniques.
