Comparing two laryngoscopes for double lumen tube insertion during thoracic surgery
Comparison Between C-MAC Blade D Video Laryngoscope and Macintosh Laryngoscope for Double Lumen Tube Insertion in Patients Undergoing Elective Thoracic Surgeries

What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to determine which laryngoscope, the C-MAC blade D video laryngoscope or the Macintosh laryngoscope, is more effective for double lumen tube (DLT) insertion in patients undergoing elective thoracic surgeries. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups, with intubation times and hemodynamic changes monitored during the procedure. The study will assess the time taken for intubation and changes in heart rate and blood pressure at various intervals post-intubation. Data will be analyzed using SPSS to evaluate the outcomes of each laryngoscope type.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients classified as Mallampati 1 or 2 and ASA 1 or 2, scheduled for elective thoracic surgeries under general anesthesia.
Not a fit: Patients with anticipated difficult airways, significant obesity, or other complications may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve intubation efficiency and patient safety during thoracic surgeries.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies comparing different laryngoscopes, this specific comparison of the C-MAC blade D video laryngoscope and the Macintosh laryngoscope for DLT insertion is relatively novel.
