Comparing laparoscopic and open surgery for intestinal obstruction caused by adhesions
Comperative Study Between Laparoscopic Adhesiolysis Vs Open Adhesiolysis in Adhesive Intestinal Obstruction

What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness and feasibility of laparoscopic adhesiolysis compared to open adhesiolysis in patients with adhesive intestinal obstruction. It aims to introduce laparoscopic techniques into emergency settings at Assiut University Hospital. The study will analyze outcomes such as length of hospital stay and morbidity rates associated with each surgical approach. Patients who have not responded to conservative treatment will be included in the evaluation.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 years old with adhesive intestinal obstruction who have failed conservative management.
Not a fit: Patients with intestinal obstruction due to causes other than adhesions or those with significant comorbidities may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved surgical outcomes and reduced recovery times for patients with adhesive intestinal obstruction.
How similar studies have performed: While laparoscopic techniques have gained popularity, definitive evidence of their superiority over open approaches in this specific context remains limited.
