What this trial studies
This study aims to enhance access to and engagement in Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for Black and Latinx communities facing substance use disorders. Utilizing a Community Based Participatory Research approach, it will compare the effectiveness of a church-based telehealth MAT option against traditional MAT referral methods. Participants will be involved in a randomized controlled trial to assess outcomes related to substance use recovery. The program is rooted in culturally informed practices and focuses on holistic wellness dimensions.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are Black or Latinx individuals who meet the criteria for Alcohol Use Disorder or Opioid Use Disorder and are currently using these substances.
Not a fit: Patients who do not identify as Black or Latinx or who do not meet the substance use disorder criteria may not benefit from this study.

Inclusion Criteria: * Participants must meet criteria for a DSM-5 Alcohol Use Disorder and/or Opioid Use Disorder and are currently using alcohol and/or other opioids within the last 28 days. * Are interested in reducing substance use. * Self-identify as living in a geographical area with high overdose case rates Exclusion Criteria: \- Participants who do not sign informed consent
