What this trial studies
This research evaluates whether community intervention and education can enhance individuals' willingness to seek eye care to prevent blindness from glaucoma. The study focuses on providing additional resources to improve access to care for participants. It specifically targets Black or African American individuals who have undergone a screening examination. The outcome measures will explore the acceptability and feasibility of the interventions.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Black or African American individuals who have participated in the screening examination.
Not a fit: Patients experiencing current eye pain, sudden vision changes, or cognitive impairments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly increase access to eye care and reduce the risk of blindness from glaucoma in underserved communities.
How similar studies have performed: While community-based interventions for health education have shown promise in other areas, this specific approach for glaucoma is relatively novel and untested.
