What this trial studies

This study involves the collection of coded biomaterial and clinical data from new patients visiting the outpatient clinic of the Clinical Genetics department at Maastricht University Medical Center. Participants provide consent for their samples to be used in future research aimed at identifying new gene mutations and potential treatment options. The study focuses on genetic diseases and aims to enhance understanding of genetic conditions through biobanking efforts.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are new patients visiting the Clinical Genetics outpatient clinic who are willing to provide body material for genetic diagnostics.

Not a fit: Patients who do not understand the Dutch language may not benefit from this study due to communication barriers.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this research could lead to the identification of new genetic mutations and improved treatment options for patients with genetic diseases.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies involving biobanking and genetic research have shown success in identifying genetic mutations and advancing treatment options, indicating that this approach is promising.
