What this trial studies

This observational study aims to build a national cohort in France to identify biomarkers related to sleep and biological rhythms in patients suffering from major depressive episodes. By evaluating these markers, the study seeks to validate more homogeneous subgroups of patients and better understand the manifestations and pathogenesis of depressive disorders. The research is conducted through the SoPsy clinical and research network, which collaborates with the French biological psychiatry and sleep societies. The ultimate goal is to enhance the clinical practice surrounding the diagnosis and treatment of depression.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study include individuals of all ages experiencing a major depressive episode as defined by DSM-5 criteria.

Not a fit: Patients who do not understand or read French or have medical conditions incompatible with the study's requirements may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for patients with major depressive episodes.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been efforts to identify biomarkers for depression, this approach focusing on sleep and biological rhythms is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in this context.
