What this trial studies
This study examines the treatment outcomes of youth diagnosed with tic disorders who receive the Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT). The research aims to understand the predictors, moderators, mediators, and mechanisms of change associated with this intervention. Participants will be assessed to evaluate the effectiveness of CBIT in reducing tic symptoms and improving overall functioning. The study will involve both youth and their caregivers in the assessment process.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are youth with a current diagnosis of a tic disorder, such as Tourette's Disorder or Persistent Motor or Vocal Tic Disorder, who can communicate in English.
Not a fit: Patients with severe psychiatric conditions, such as psychosis or bipolar disorder, or those currently receiving other forms of psychotherapy may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly reduce tic symptoms and improve the quality of life for affected youth.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes with behavioral interventions for tic disorders, indicating that this approach has potential for success.
