Assessing kidney blood flow changes after closing a fistula in transplant patients
Multiparametric MRI for Assessment of Changes of Renal Hemodynamics After Fistula Closure in Kidney Transplant Patients: a Pilot Study
This study is testing how closing a fistula affects blood flow in the kidneys of kidney transplant patients to see if it impacts their kidney function.

What this trial studies
This observational study evaluates how renal hemodynamics change following the closure of arteriovenous fistulas (AVF) in kidney transplant patients using multiparametric MRI. Patients over 18 years old, who are planning to undergo surgical fistula closure and meet specific kidney function criteria, will be monitored for changes in kidney blood flow. The study aims to provide insights into the impact of fistula closure on kidney function post-transplantation. Echocardiography and MRI will be utilized as part of the assessment process.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are kidney transplant patients over 18 years old, with stable kidney function and planning to close their fistula.
Not a fit: Patients who have undergone kidney transplantation within the last 12 months or have significant kidney issues such as high proteinuria or recent rejection episodes may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of kidney function management in transplant patients after fistula closure.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies assessing renal hemodynamics have been conducted, this specific approach using multiparametric MRI in the context of fistula closure is relatively novel.
