What this trial studies
This project aims to develop and evaluate a set of self-assessment scales designed to collect and classify relevant data about psychiatric symptoms in adults. The scales will gather information on symptom profiles, age of onset, development over time, and the relationship to external stressors, which can aid clinicians in the diagnostic process. Using statistical methods like Item Response Theory, the study will assess the effectiveness of these scales and potentially reduce the number of items needed for accurate diagnostics. The ultimate goal is to create a scientifically validated tool that enhances psychiatric evaluations and follow-ups.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults experiencing psychiatric problems.
Not a fit: Patients without psychiatric issues or those who do not wish to participate in self-assessment may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this project could provide clinicians with a reliable tool for more accurate psychiatric diagnostics and improved patient care.
How similar studies have performed: While there is a lack of validated systems for psychiatric diagnostics, similar approaches using self-assessment scales have shown promise in other studies.
