What this trial studies

The iCaRe2 is a multi-institutional resource developed by the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center to gather and manage standardized, longitudinal data and biospecimens from adult cancer patients, high-risk individuals, and normal controls. This initiative focuses on a wide geographical coverage, including small and rural hospitals, to enhance studies on cancer risk factors and to facilitate the development of innovative strategies for prevention, screening, and personalized treatment. The repository supports collaboration among centers with expertise in various cancer-related fields, allowing for comprehensive cohort and population studies.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults with a personal history of cancer, those at high risk for developing cancer, and individuals without a cancer history for the control registry.

Not a fit: Patients under 19 years of age or those unable to provide informed consent due to cognitive impairment may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this initiative could lead to improved cancer prevention, early detection, and personalized treatment strategies for patients.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing similar data collection and biospecimen management approaches have shown promise, indicating potential for success in this novel initiative.
