What this trial studies

This study tests a computerized treatment program for adolescents aged 13-17 who are seeking help for alcohol and/or cannabis use. Participants will engage in a modified Approach-Avoidance Task (mAAT) designed to alter their automatic biases towards these substances. Follow-up assessments will occur at one and three months post-treatment to evaluate effectiveness. The study aims to provide a structured intervention for young individuals struggling with substance use disorders.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adolescents aged 13-17 who are actively seeking treatment for co-occurring alcohol and cannabis use.

Not a fit: Patients who do not have a caregiver willing to participate or who do not report recent use of both substances may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly reduce substance use among adolescents, leading to improved health outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using computerized interventions for substance use reduction, suggesting potential for success in this approach.
