What this trial studies

This study investigates the effectiveness of healthy ketogenic ready-to-eat meals combined with a mobile health nutrition application compared to a healthy ketogenic diet without meal provision, both utilizing the app. The aim is to facilitate weight loss and improve metabolic outcomes among individuals with obesity in Singapore. The research addresses barriers to weight management, such as motivation and appetite control, by providing convenient meal options and self-monitoring tools. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two intervention groups to assess the impact on weight loss.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 21 to 75 with a BMI of 27.5 or higher who own a smartphone and are literate in English.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, lactating, have certain medical conditions like diabetes on insulin treatment, or severe psychiatric disorders may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly aid individuals with obesity in achieving weight loss and improving their metabolic health.

How similar studies have performed: While the ketogenic diet has shown benefits for weight management, this specific approach using ready-to-eat meals and mHealth applications is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in previous studies.
