What this trial studies
The iParent2Parent program connects parents of pediatric kidney transplant recipients with trained peer mentors to provide one-on-one support. This innovative virtual mentorship aims to reduce feelings of isolation and improve mental health among parents. Participants will use eHealth technologies, specifically WhatsApp, to facilitate communication and support. The program seeks to enhance understanding of peer support dynamics and its impact on both parents and their children’s health outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include parents of children under 18 who have received a kidney transplant and are at least two months post-transplant.
Not a fit: Parents who do not speak English or whose children are not within the specified age and transplant criteria may not benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve the mental health and well-being of parents, leading to better overall health outcomes for their children.
How similar studies have performed: While peer support programs have shown promise in various contexts, this specific approach leveraging virtual mentorship is relatively novel.
