What this trial studies

This pilot study evaluates the effectiveness, feasibility, and acceptability of a smoking cessation intervention specifically designed for cancer patients, delivered through video. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a video intervention group or a control group receiving general information about quitting smoking. Surveys will be administered before and after the intervention to assess participants' feedback, changes in smoking behavior, and knowledge gained about smoking cessation. The goal is to gather preliminary data to inform a larger clinical trial in the future.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 or older who have been diagnosed with any type of cancer and are currently smoking cigarettes.

Not a fit: Patients with unstable or poorly managed medical or psychiatric conditions that affect their ability to provide informed consent may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve smoking cessation rates among cancer patients, enhancing their overall health outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using video interventions for smoking cessation, particularly among specific populations, indicating potential for success in this approach.
