Video game exercise program for improving upper limb function in Parkinson's disease
Investigation of the Effectiveness of a Video-Based Exercise Program Targeting Upper Extremity Function in Individuals With Parkinson

What this trial studies
This study investigates the effectiveness of a video-based game exercise program designed for individuals with Parkinson's disease, focusing on improving upper extremity function. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a conventional exercise group or a video game exercise group, both receiving 8 weeks of therapy. The video game group will engage in interactive games using the Becure Extremity ROM device under physiotherapist supervision, aiming to enhance joint range of motion, proprioception, and overall quality of life. The study seeks to determine if video game training can provide additional benefits compared to traditional exercise methods.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 50-80 with idiopathic Parkinson's disease at Hoehn and Yahr Scale Stage I to III and exhibiting kyphotic posture.
Not a fit: Patients with other neurological conditions, significant visual abnormalities, or cardiovascular issues may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly enhance upper limb functionality and quality of life for patients with Parkinson's disease.
How similar studies have performed: While some studies have reported limited effects of video game training in neurological rehabilitation, this approach remains relatively novel and requires further high-quality research.
