What this trial studies

This study evaluates the effects of immersive virtual reality and relaxing video interventions on lung cancer patients undergoing their first chemotherapy treatment. It aims to assess how these non-pharmacological methods can alleviate symptoms such as distress and improve the quality of life for patients experiencing side effects from chemotherapy. Participants will engage with virtual reality applications and relaxing videos to determine their impact on symptom severity and emotional well-being. The study focuses on patients who are receiving at least two cycles of chemotherapy for lung cancer.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old who have been diagnosed with lung cancer and are about to receive chemotherapy for the first time.

Not a fit: Patients with cognitive or psychiatric disorders, those with specific phobias related to the study interventions, or those who do not agree to participate may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly enhance the quality of life for lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy by reducing distress and improving symptom management.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have indicated positive effects of virtual reality and audio-visual therapies on cancer patients, suggesting that this approach may be effective.
