What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of playing a lullaby during intravenous line placements in newborns to reduce pain and stress. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a music group, where Brahms Lullaby is played, or a control group with no music. Vital signs and pain levels will be measured before, during, and after the procedure to assess the impact of the musical intervention. Additionally, feedback will be collected from parents and medical staff regarding their experiences with the music during the procedure.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are newborns who require an intravenous line placement and are connected to a monitor for vital signs.

Not a fit: Patients with hearing impairments may not benefit from this study due to the nature of the intervention.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve pain management for newborns undergoing medical procedures.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that music can be effective in reducing pain and anxiety in various medical settings, suggesting potential success for this approach.
