What this trial studies

This observational study evaluates the effectiveness of infrared thermographic imaging as a non-invasive tool for diagnosing periodontal diseases. A total of 45 patients will be examined using standard clinical parameters and infrared thermal imaging to identify conditions such as gingivitis and periodontitis. The thermal images will be analyzed to detect temperature changes in the tissues, and the study aims to compare the diagnostic accuracy of thermography against traditional methods. The results will help determine the sensitivity and specificity of this imaging technique for periodontal assessment.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 to 60 with generalized gingivitis, periodontitis, or a healthy periodontium.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, smokers, or on certain medications that affect saliva production or immune response may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a rapid and non-invasive method for diagnosing periodontal diseases, improving patient care.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of thermography in periodontal assessment is relatively novel, similar imaging techniques have shown promise in other medical fields.
