What this trial studies
This study investigates the effectiveness of imagery rescripting (ImRs) as a treatment for individuals experiencing early psychosis. It employs a multiple baseline case series design involving 5-10 participants diagnosed with schizophrenia spectrum disorders. Participants will undergo a variable baseline period followed by 4-6 sessions of ImRs, conducted twice weekly, with assessments of core beliefs, wellbeing, self-esteem, and psychotic symptoms measured throughout the process. The study aims to analyze changes in these outcomes and gather qualitative data on patient experiences post-treatment.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia spectrum disorders who are stable on medication and have Dutch or English literacy.
Not a fit: Patients with current mania, active suicidal plans, or significant substance abuse may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could significantly improve the wellbeing and self-esteem of patients with early psychosis.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of imagery rescripting in early psychosis is novel, similar therapeutic techniques have shown promise in treating other psychological conditions.
