What this trial studies

This study evaluates the effects of a combination of flavonoids, diosmin and hesperidin, as an adjuvant therapy for patients with rheumatoid arthritis. It focuses on assessing the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of these compounds, alongside clinical and functional evaluations of disease activity. Additionally, the study aims to investigate the hepatoprotective effects of the treatment against liver adverse events caused by methotrexate, a common medication for rheumatoid arthritis.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old with mild to moderate rheumatoid arthritis.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, lactating, or have liver or renal impairment, as well as those on specific biological therapies, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could provide a new, effective option for managing rheumatoid arthritis symptoms and reducing liver toxicity from existing medications.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of flavonoids in treating inflammatory conditions is promising, this specific combination has not been extensively tested in similar studies, making it a novel approach.
