Using cardiac imaging to improve risk assessment in Takotsubo syndrome
Exploring the eVolution in prognOstic capabiLity of mUlti-sequence Cardiac magneTIc resOnance in patieNts Affected by Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy
This study is testing a new way to predict how well patients with Takotsubo syndrome will do in the hospital and over time by using heart imaging and comparing it to current methods.

What this trial studies
This observational registry aims to develop a comprehensive clinical and imaging score that enhances risk stratification for patients diagnosed with Takotsubo syndrome. It will incorporate data from echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) to predict both in-hospital and long-term outcomes. The study will also compare the new risk stratification score with existing scores and explore the use of machine learning models for improved outcome prediction. By addressing the current gaps in prognostic assessment, this initiative seeks to optimize the management of Takotsubo syndrome patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adult patients over 18 years old diagnosed with Takotsubo syndrome who have available clinical and imaging data.
Not a fit: Patients under 18 years old, those with preexisting cardiomyopathies, or those lacking necessary imaging examinations may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a more reliable predictive tool for managing patients with Takotsubo syndrome, potentially improving their outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While CMR has been studied for diagnostic purposes in Takotsubo syndrome, the incorporation of CMR data into prognostic scoring is a novel approach that has not been extensively tested.
