What this trial studies
This study evaluates the impact of a short educational video on patient satisfaction and confidence regarding thyroid surgery. Participants with thyroid nodules will be divided into two groups: one receiving standard information from their doctor and the other watching a video that clearly explains the surgical procedure. The study aims to assess whether the video reduces anxiety and enhances patients' understanding and retention of important information. Surveys will be conducted before surgery, after surgery, and three months later to measure these outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who are fluent in English and eligible for thyroid surgery.
Not a fit: Patients who have a history of prior thyroid surgery or have already consented for thyroid surgery may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to improved patient satisfaction and confidence in making informed decisions about thyroid surgery.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown that educational interventions can significantly enhance patient understanding and satisfaction, suggesting this approach is promising.
