What this trial studies

This observational study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a Computer Assisted Detection (CADe) program called GI Genius™ in increasing the adenoma detection rate (ADR) during colonoscopy procedures. It will compare ADR rates in hospitals and among individual colonoscopists before, during, and after the implementation of the AI system. The study will focus on non-expert colonoscopists to assess whether the AI can enhance their detection capabilities. Data will be collected over a 12-month period, with four months of data collected before and after the AI's deployment, and four months during its use. The goal is to determine if the integration of AI can improve the quality of colonoscopy nationwide.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients aged 18-85 scheduled for a colonoscopy as per current NHS criteria.

Not a fit: Patients undergoing colonoscopy for polyp surveillance or those unable to provide informed consent will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved detection of colorectal cancer and polyps, enhancing patient outcomes and potentially saving lives.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with AI-assisted detection in colonoscopy, indicating potential for success in this approach.
