What this trial studies
This study evaluates the long-term effectiveness of an artificial intelligence (AI) dental monitoring intervention on patients with periodontal disease. Participants aged 35-65 are randomized into three groups: an AI group, an AI-humanized group, and a control group. The intervention involves weekly home imaging of the mouth over six months, with follow-up surveys assessing periodontal health, preventive behaviors, and motivation. Data is collected through periodontal examinations and questionnaires at baseline and multiple follow-up points.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 35-65 diagnosed with periodontal disease and having more than 16 functional teeth.
Not a fit: Patients who have received periodontal treatment within the last three months or have conditions related to periodontal disease may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly enhance oral hygiene practices and treatment outcomes for patients with periodontal disease.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using AI for dental monitoring, suggesting potential success for this approach.
