Using AI to improve bowel cancer detection with capsule endoscopy
Capsule Endoscopy Delivery at sCale Through Enhanced AI anaLysis Study

What this trial studies
The CESCAIL study evaluates the effectiveness of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in analyzing video footage from a minimally-invasive capsule endoscopy to enhance the detection of polyps in the bowel. Participants will continue their standard care without additional requirements, providing consent for their pseudonymized video and data to be utilized for AI testing. The final diagnosis will be determined solely by the clinician's standard analysis, ensuring that the AI analysis does not influence clinical decisions. This approach aims to improve the efficiency and accuracy of bowel cancer detection while minimizing risks associated with data exposure.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 or over who are scheduled for colon capsule endoscopy as part of their standard care.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to provide consent to participate in the study will not benefit.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more accurate and efficient detection of bowel cancer, potentially improving patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using AI for medical imaging, suggesting potential success for this approach.
