What this trial studies
This study explores the Dice Model of Play to enhance play experiences for children with physical and mental disabilities. It involves three phases: first, interviewing children and guardians to understand their play experiences; second, testing the model by allowing children to build and play with Lego robots versus conventional toys; and third, gathering expert feedback on the model's effectiveness. The study aims to refine the model based on qualitative and quantitative data collected throughout the phases.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 3 to 8 years with physical or mental disabilities who can communicate in English or Persian.
Not a fit: Children who have received play therapy in the last three months may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve play opportunities and developmental outcomes for children with disabilities.
How similar studies have performed: While there are existing models of play, this approach is novel in its comprehensive examination and application of the Dice Model of Play.
