Using 3D ultrasound for liver and kidney tumor procedures
Use of 3-Dimensional (3D) Ultrasound Imaging to Guide the Treatment of Abdominal Tumours Using Focal Ablation or Biopsies
This study tests if using 3D ultrasound during liver and kidney tumor procedures can help doctors see better and improve the results for patients.

What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of 3D ultrasound guidance during standard care ablation or biopsy procedures for liver and kidney tumors. The 3D ultrasound technology captures a series of 2D images that are then transformed into a 3D volume, allowing for enhanced visualization of the targeted area. Physicians will acquire images during the procedures, and these will be compared with pre- and post-procedure CT images to assess the accuracy of tumor removal or targeting. The study aims to improve diagnostic and intervention outcomes for patients undergoing these procedures.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients scheduled for standard care liver or kidney ablation or biopsy.
Not a fit: Patients not undergoing liver or kidney procedures will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to more accurate tumor targeting and improved outcomes for patients undergoing liver or kidney procedures.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of 3D ultrasound is gaining traction, this specific application in liver and kidney procedures is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
