Upper body strengthening and core stabilization for amputee football players

The Effect of Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation Based Upper Extremity Strengthening Exercises Combined With Core Stabilization Training on Physical Fitness Parameters in Amputee Football Players

NA · Uskudar University · NCT06556082

What this trial studies

This study investigates the effects of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF)-based upper extremity strengthening exercises combined with core stabilization on the physical fitness of amputee football players. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a training group, which will receive specialized exercises three times a week for eight weeks, or a control group that will follow standard upper extremity strengthening with free weights. The study aims to assess improvements in fitness parameters such as strength, endurance, and balance, which are crucial for performance in amputee football. Initial and follow-up evaluations will be conducted to measure the effectiveness of the interventions.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are amputee football players with at least one year of experience and specific types of lower limb amputations.

Not a fit: Patients with upper extremity amputations, bilateral lower extremity amputations, or certain medical conditions may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance the physical fitness and performance of amputee football players.

How similar studies have performed: While similar approaches have been explored, this specific combination of PNF and core stabilization in amputee football is relatively novel.
