What this trial studies

This study aims to assess the incidence of recurrent thromboembolic venous disease and identify risk factors for recurrence in two specific groups: individuals under 50 years old and cancer patients. It focuses on the serious complications associated with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), which can lead to significant mortality and long-term health issues. Participants will provide biological samples to aid in the research. The study is conducted at the University Hospital in Brest, France.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals aged 18 and over with a diagnosis of thromboembolic venous disease, particularly those under 50 or any age with active cancer.

Not a fit: Patients who are foreign nationals or unable to communicate effectively may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of thromboembolic venous disease, potentially reducing recurrence rates and associated complications.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in understanding thromboembolic disease, but this specific cohort approach focusing on age and cancer status is relatively novel.
