What this trial studies

This observational study aims to gather comprehensive data on the prevalence, clinical presentation, and comorbidities associated with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) in the Italian population. By collaborating with various sleep centers endorsed by the Italian Scientific Society of Sleep Medicine, the study will assess different physiological and clinical patterns of OSA among Italian patients. The methodology includes polysomnography to evaluate sleep patterns and identify OSA characteristics. The findings will help fill the knowledge gap regarding OSA in Italy, which has been previously under-researched compared to other European regions.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 years or older who are suspected of having Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

Not a fit: Patients with unstable psychiatric diseases or limited life expectancy due to unrelated illnesses may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnosis and management of Obstructive Sleep Apnea in Italy, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While studies have shown significant findings regarding OSA in other European populations, this specific focus on the Italian population is novel and has not been extensively explored.
