What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the prevalence of multimorbidity among patients suffering from spinal pain, specifically focusing on back and neck pain. It consists of two work packages: the first assesses the prevalence of multimorbidity and its impact on healthcare utilization and diagnostic processes, while the second investigates the treatment burden associated with multimorbidity and its effect on patient outcomes during rehabilitation. Data will be collected from patients referred to the Department of Rheumatology at Aalborg University Hospital and the Medical Spine Clinic in Silkeborg using questionnaires and electronic health records.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older diagnosed with neck or back pain confirmed by a rheumatologist.
Not a fit: Patients who do not speak, read, or understand Danish may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of how multiple health conditions affect treatment and outcomes for patients with spinal pain.
How similar studies have performed: While studies on multimorbidity exist, this specific focus on spinal pain and its treatment burden is relatively novel.
