Understanding Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Canadian Children
The Canadian Children Inflammatory Bowel Disease Network (CIDsCaNN): A Partnership With the CH.I.L.D. Foundation: Multi-center Inception Cohort Study
This study looks at why more kids in Canada are getting Inflammatory Bowel Disease and tries to find out how things like environment and genetics affect their health and treatment.

What this trial studies
The CIDsCaNN Network aims to investigate the reasons behind the high prevalence of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) among children and adolescents in Canada. This observational study will enroll a diverse cohort of young patients diagnosed with IBD, including Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, to explore environmental risk factors and their impact on the microbiome and genetic susceptibility. By assessing treatment outcomes such as symptom resolution and intestinal healing, the study seeks to identify best practices for managing IBD in pediatric populations. The findings will contribute to improving care and treatment strategies nationally.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children and teenagers diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, including Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
Not a fit: Patients who do not have a diagnosis of IBD or refuse to give informed consent will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to better understanding and management of IBD in children, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in understanding IBD through similar observational approaches, indicating that this methodology is promising.
