Understanding immune cell behavior in sarcoidosis and tuberculosis
Role of Monocytes (Mo) and Macrophages (Ma) in Sarcoidosis and in Tuberculosis
This study is trying to understand how certain immune cells behave in people with sarcoidosis and tuberculosis to see what causes the ongoing inflammation in these conditions.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to investigate the role of monocytes and macrophages in the formation and maintenance of granulomas in patients with sarcoidosis and tuberculosis. By comparing these two conditions, the study will define a systemic signature of immune cells using blood samples and tissue analysis through advanced techniques such as multi-parameter spectral flow cytometry and RNA sequencing. The research seeks to identify the factors contributing to chronic immune cell overactivation, which may provide insights into the pathophysiology of granulomatous diseases.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old diagnosed with either sarcoidosis or tuberculosis.
Not a fit: Patients with HIV infection, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or those under legal protection may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of sarcoidosis and tuberculosis, potentially enhancing treatment strategies for patients.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on granuloma formation, this specific approach focusing on the MoMa systemic signature in sarcoidosis compared to tuberculosis is relatively novel.
