What this trial studies
This observational study aims to investigate the impact of vaping on blood vessels, specifically focusing on early damage that may occur in lung vessels. It will compare current electronic cigarette users with healthy individuals who have never smoked or vaped. Participants will be adults aged 18-40, and the study will gather data on their vascular health to assess the effects of vaping. The findings could provide insights into the risks associated with vaping and inform public health strategies.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18-40 who are current users of electronic cigarettes with a minimum nicotine concentration of 5% or healthy individuals who have never smoked or vaped.
Not a fit: Patients who smoke tobacco or other nicotine products, have chronic health issues, or are pregnant or breastfeeding may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help identify early vascular damage caused by vaping, leading to better prevention and treatment strategies.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically on vaping-related vascular diseases, studies on smoking and vascular health have shown significant impacts, suggesting that this area of investigation is both relevant and necessary.
