Understanding how unconscious processing affects decision-making

Behavioral Evidence on the Modulators of Unconscious Processing in Decision-making

Istituti Clinici Scientifici Maugeri SpA · NCT05774847

What this trial studies

This observational study focuses on healthy volunteers to establish a baseline for decision-making performance under various experimental conditions. It aims to explore how factors such as perceptual features of stimuli, the type of processing required, and age influence decision-making metrics like loss aversion and risk aversion. By assessing 200 healthy individuals, the study seeks to provide insights into the stability of decision-making performance across different contexts and age groups. The findings could enhance our understanding of decision-making in both healthy and pathological conditions.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy individuals without any history of substance abuse or psychoactive medication use.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of alcohol or drug abuse, or those on psychoactive medications, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve our understanding of decision-making processes, potentially informing interventions for individuals with decision-making impairments.

How similar studies have performed: While the study explores established metrics of decision-making, the specific focus on unconscious processing and its modulation by various factors is relatively novel.
