Understanding how the eye adjusts focus and its changes with age
To Study the Changes Under Different Accommodation of Anterior Eye in People of Different Ages and 3D Crystal Reconstruction.
This study is trying to understand how our eyes change focus as we age and what causes the difficulty in seeing things up close, known as presbyopia.

What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the process of accommodation in the human eye, which is the ability to change focus for near and far objects. It aims to clarify the controversial nature of accommodation and the age-related changes that lead to presbyopia. Utilizing advanced imaging techniques like Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography (AS-OCT), the study will capture the morphology of the anterior segment structures and their responses to different stimuli. The research seeks to provide insights into the mechanisms behind accommodation and presbyopia, which remain poorly understood despite extensive investigation.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients with astigmatism of -1.50D or less and a best corrected visual acuity of 4.9 or better.
Not a fit: Patients with systemic diseases, a history of eye surgery, or other specific eye conditions such as strabismus or amblyopia may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance our understanding of eye accommodation and lead to better treatments for presbyopia.
How similar studies have performed: While the study addresses a well-researched topic, the use of advanced imaging techniques like AS-OCT may provide novel insights that have not been extensively explored in previous studies.
