What this trial studies
This observational study aims to identify and describe the barriers to physical activity faced by patients with cognitive, neuromotor, or sensory impairments as they age. It will involve collecting data from eligible outpatient subjects at the Parasport Health Unit of a university hospital, focusing on their medical records and various examinations. The study seeks to understand how these barriers evolve and the impact of medical and social treatments on them, providing insights into the underperformance factors in competitive sports for these individuals.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients aged 6 years and older with cognitive, neuromotor, or sensory impairments who are consulting at the Parasport Health Unit.
Not a fit: Patients under court protection may not benefit from this study due to legal restrictions on their participation.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved strategies for enhancing physical activity among patients with disabilities, ultimately improving their quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: While there is existing literature on barriers to physical activity in disabled populations, this specific approach focusing on aging patients with cognitive, neuromotor, or sensory impairments is relatively novel.
