What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the practices of intra-hospital transport for critically ill patients in intensive care units (ICUs) across multiple centers. It will assess the occurrence of adverse events during these transports, which are known to have a significant rate of complications. By conducting a practice survey and collecting epidemiological data, the study seeks to provide a clearer understanding of the risks involved in transporting ICU patients. The findings could help improve safety protocols and transport practices in critical care settings.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old who are hospitalized in an ICU and require intra-hospital transport.
Not a fit: Patients who are under guardianship, not affiliated with French social security, or being transported for discharge to a medical or surgical ward will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the safety and effectiveness of intra-hospital transport for critically ill patients.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited epidemiological data on this topic, previous studies have indicated a high rate of adverse events during intra-hospital transport, suggesting that this area requires further investigation.
