What this trial studies
This intervention aims to help individuals with excess weight by combining inhibitory control training with standard treatments like diet and exercise. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an active training group or a placebo group, both receiving personalized dietary and exercise guidelines. The training involves a computerized task where participants learn to inhibit responses to certain food cues. The study will assess various outcomes, including changes in BMI, cravings, eating behaviors, and cognitive functions.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 to 60 with a BMI between 25 and 39.9 who are proficient in Spanish and have internet access.
Not a fit: Patients with severe psychological disorders, eating disorders, or other significant health issues affecting the central nervous system may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve weight management and reduce cravings for high-calorie foods in individuals with excess weight.
How similar studies have performed: While this specific approach is novel, similar studies using inhibitory control training have shown promising results in related areas.
