What this trial studies

This is a randomized, school-based trial comparing eight months of therapeutic dance (two one-hour sessions per week) to no intervention in about 30 children aged 3–14 with motor impairments. Five collaborating educational centers will be cluster-randomized to either deliver the dance program or serve as controls, with evaluations before and after the intervention period. Primary outcomes include motor function, balance, walking speed, caregiver- and child-reported quality of life, and participation in daily activities. The protocol follows CONSORT guidance, the Declaration of Helsinki, and has ethics committee oversight.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Children aged 3–14 with motor impairments who can follow simple instructions and can attend twice-weekly one-hour sessions at their school are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: Children who had a serious clinical condition or surgery within the past six months or who cannot follow simple tasks are unlikely to benefit or be eligible.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the program could improve children's motor skills, balance, walking speed, daily participation, and perceived quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: Smaller pilot studies and programs in neurological and pediatric populations have suggested dance therapy can help balance and motor skills, but randomized school-based data in children are limited.
