What this trial studies
This observational project collects spontaneous written narratives produced by adolescents and young adults treated at the Area giovani CRO starting in 2021, using ward logbooks and dedicated narrative events including those held during the COVID-19 pandemic. Researchers perform textual analysis on these free-form writings to identify themes, emotions, and experiences reported by patients and families. Findings are intended to inform clinical practice, strengthen the patient-provider relationship, and guide organizational changes to better support young oncology patients. Participation requires informed consent and does not involve medical interventions.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adolescents and young adults treated at the Area giovani CRO from 2021 who are willing to share their personal writings and provide informed consent.
Not a fit: Patients who do not wish to write or share personal narratives, those outside the age or treatment setting specified, or those seeking direct clinical treatments are unlikely to receive direct benefits.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the work could help clinicians better understand and respond to adolescents' emotional needs and lead to improved supportive services.
How similar studies have performed: Narrative medicine and textual analysis approaches have been used elsewhere to improve clinician understanding and communication, although methods and measurable outcomes vary.
