What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of tele-rehabilitation on individuals suffering from temporomandibular disorders (TMD), which can cause pain and limited movement in the jaw. Utilizing a randomized, controlled, and blinded approach, the trial will assess pain outcomes, range of motion, functionality, and biopsychosocial factors through remote physiotherapy interventions. Participants will receive manual therapy and exercise therapy via telemedicine, aiming to provide effective treatment despite the challenges of in-person consultations.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 to 60 who have experienced facial pain related to temporomandibular dysfunction in the past six months.
Not a fit: Patients with conditions unrelated to temporomandibular disorders or those outside the specified age range may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance access to effective treatment for patients with temporomandibular disorders, improving their quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: While tele-rehabilitation is a growing field, this specific application for temporomandibular disorders is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
