What this trial studies
This interventional program uses mHealth and other educational technologies to deliver tailored physical activity and nutrition support for young people with intellectual disabilities. The intervention works with families, teachers, and caregivers to provide remote learning, reminders, and behavior-change tools aimed at increasing activity and reducing sedentary time. Participants aged 4–30 who can follow basic instructions and access a smartphone will receive the digital modules and supervised guidance. Outcomes include changes in physical activity, sedentary behavior, and dietary habits measured before and after the intervention.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are children, adolescents, and young adults aged 4–30 with a diagnosed intellectual disability who can follow basic instructions and have access to a smartphone.
Not a fit: Those with severe sensory or motor impairments, medical conditions that make moderate physical activity unsafe, or no access to a smartphone are unlikely to benefit.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, it could increase physical activity, reduce sedentary time, and improve diet among young people with intellectual disabilities, lowering their long-term health risks.
How similar studies have performed: Previous lifestyle interventions for people with intellectual disabilities have shown mixed improvements in activity and diet, and mobile health approaches are promising but relatively untested in this population.
