What this trial studies
This study aims to adapt the Youth-Nominated Support Team (YST) intervention to better serve young individuals at clinical high risk for psychosis who also exhibit suicidal ideation or behavior. The intervention focuses on providing support to family members and friends of the youth rather than the youth themselves, ensuring it complements existing treatment services. The project will involve stakeholder input to develop a tailored treatment manual, implement the adapted YST in a clinical setting, and revise the intervention based on feedback from participants and providers.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 12-25 who have experienced suicidal thoughts in the past three months or a suicide attempt in the past year and are receiving treatment for psychosis risk symptoms.
Not a fit: Patients who have previously participated in the initial phases of the study will not benefit from this intervention.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly reduce suicide risk among youth at high risk for psychosis.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been successful interventions for adolescents, this specific adaptation for youth at clinical high risk for psychosis is novel and untested.
